Halamka oversaw digital health relationships with industry, academia and government worldwide. Halamka was responsible for all clinical, financial, administrative and academic IT. Halamka completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University, where he received a degree in medical microbiology and a degree in public policy with a focus on technology issues.
He received his medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco, and simultaneously pursued graduate work in bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley, focusing on technology issues in medicine.

The Postdoctoral Fellow title is used for those who join the MIT community soon after receiving their doctorate. Working under the supervision of MIT faculty members, postdoctoral fellows come to MIT to develop their scholarly competence.
Postdoctoral Fellows receive financial support in the form of a fellowship or stipend, usually from an outside agency, either directly or distributed through MIT on behalf of the sponsor. Typically, fellows are responsible for applying for a fellowship award.
Funds for postdoctoral fellowships are provided from a variety of sources, including private donors, foundations, corporations, and government agencies such as the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. Length of stay varies depending on area of interest and individual circumstances.
Since the postdoctoral position is not intended to be long-term, MIT limits the postdoctoral period to four years, with promotion to the rank of senior postdoctoral associate possible after three years. The NIH salary scale shown below is the minimum salary required for postdoctoral appointments and is based on years of experience.
Years of experience begins after graduation. The fellowship must cover the entire amount, personal funds cannot be used. These amounts may change at any time. Every yearover international scholars visiting researchers, professors, and lecturers and accompanying family members are affiliated with the MIT community. In -for example, this extraordinary group of individuals represented more than 90 countries and engaged in research and teaching activities in more than 70 MIT departments, laboratories, centers, and programs. The mission of the International Scholars Office ISchO is to facilitate the arrival and appointment of international visitors, who are invited to campus to teach, conduct research, observe, and collaborate.
ISchO encourages and supports the exchange of scholars and strives to ease the transition of foreign nationals into the campus community. Weekly orientations are given for incoming international scholars and family members. ISchO provides resources, information, and programming on a wide range of family, work, cultural exchange, visa, and travel topics relevant to the international scholar population.
Numerous trainings on working with the ISchO, visa processing, and academic appointments are also held throughout the year for department, laboratory, and center administrators.
ISchO also engages in advocacy efforts to protect international educational exchange, prevent burdensome federal regulations, and clarify and improve related procedures. How to Join Us as a Visiting Scholar or Postdoc
If your application is accepted, the department will contact you with further details and paperwork about your visit. Unfortunately, Literature cannot provide office space, housing, or computer workstations to visiting scholars.

You must apply directly to the Literature Faculty for appointment as a Visiting Scholar. The Literature program will act as a liaison with the International Scholars Office to process visa applications for foreign candidates, who meet the eligibility requirements below. After the initial contact, we may ask for: A letter describing your project, a rationale for pursuing this work in Cambridge and MIT, and the names of faculty members whose research interests coincide with you own.
